Matech Industry Ltd. recently completed and shipped a batch of 400 pcs of custom cast iron knuckles to a customer in the United States. The components were manufactured from QT450 ductile iron using sand casting and CNC machining and are used as key structural components in agricultural tillage machinery.
Project Summary
The project began when the American customer contacted Matech regarding a batch of customized cast iron components for agricultural tillage equipment.
The customer provided a 3D model but did not provide detailed 2D machining drawings initially. To ensure the finished components would meet fit and assembly requirements, Matech carried out several rounds of technical communication with the customer.
During this stage, Matech clarified the machining locations and related technical requirements with the customer. Based on the confirmed requirements, Matech prepared a detailed and cost-effective quotation.
The customer was satisfied with Matech's technical support and then placed an order for tooling and samples.
The sampling stage proceeded smoothly, and the customer quickly tested and approved the samples.
Following sample approval, the customer placed a batch order for 400 pieces. The components were produced according to the confirmed requirements and went through the required casting and CNC machining processes before shipment.
This project demonstrates how clear technical communication at an early stage can help define the manufacturing requirements for custom cast components, especially when detailed machining drawings are not initially available. While meeting the customer's operational requirements, MATECH also provides customers with competitive pricing solutions to help reduce their project procurement costs.
The batch order was finalized at the end of March. The products were completed and ready for shipment at the end of May, and the finished components were successfully shipped in early June.
The 400 pieces were packed in two wooden cases, with a total gross weight of approximately 1.5 metric tons. The shipment was arranged by sea under LCL (Less than Container Load) terms.
With the production and logistics stages completed as planned, the batch was successfully shipped to the United States.
After receiving the goods, the customer provided positive feedback on the cast iron knuckles, confirming that the components fit properly and performed well in the application.
The customer also expressed a strong interest in developing additional projects with Matech.
For customized cast components, successful delivery is not only about completing production. Understanding the customer's application, confirming machining requirements, coordinating sample approval, and maintaining clear communication throughout the project are also important parts of the process.
