Industry Challenges

What Cement Industry Clients Face?
Cement production equipment operates continuously under harsh conditions. The following issues are among the most significant challenges, directly affecting the reliability of cast components, conveyor chains, and overall production-lines efficiency.
Strength Reduction Caused by High Temperatures
• Cast Components:Conventional steel materials lose strength significantly at temperatures above 300°C. Areas such as kiln discharge and clinker coolers may reach temperatures of up to 800°C, making components such as preheater liners and cooler liners vulnerable to thermal deformation and thermal fatigue cracking;
• Conveyor Chains:At elevated temperatures, thermal expansion can affect the clearance between chain pins and bushings. This may result in seizure, excessive wear, and ultimately transmission failure.
Severe Abrasive Wear
• Cast Components: Clinker particles are highly abrasive, with a Mohs hardness of approximately 6-7. Components such as conveyor trough liners, wear plates, and mixer blades are subjected to continuous material impact and abrasion, resulting in accelerated wear and shortened service life.
• Conveyor Chains: Abrasive materials can accelerate wear on chain plates and pins, causing rapid chain pitch elongation and reduced conveying performance.
Dust-Induced Chain Wear
Fine cement dust is extremely small in particle size and highly abrasive. Once it enters the clearance between chain pins and bushings, it accelerates internal wear, resulting in excessive chain pitch elongation. This may eventually lead to sprocket skipping or even chain breakage.
Costly Unplanned Shutdowns
Unexpected kiln shutdowns caused by component failures can incur significant costs. Restarting a cement kiln requires substantial fuel consumption and considerable downtime, with a single incident potentially resulting in significant financial losses.
