Heavy Duty Chains Manufacturer

MATECH supplies a full range of heavy-duty chains, including conveyor chains for mining and cement industries, steel industry chains, coal washing machine chains, paver chains and scraper chains.

Heavy Duty Chains

Heavy-duty chains are specially designed for extreme working conditions such as mining, cement, steel, coal and road construction, capable of withstanding high impact, severe abrasion, heavy loads and high-temperature environments.MATECH supplies a full range of heavy-duty chains, including conveyor chains for mining and cement industries, steel industry chains, coal washing machine chains, paver chains and scraper chains.

We adopt high-strength alloy steel, die-forging technology and carburizing & quenching treatment. Our engineering team provides in-depth analysis of customers’ actual operating conditions. We support customized solutions based on drawings, including customized pitch, link plate thickness and attachment types, as well as special material grades and heat treatment specifications. This ensures long service life and high reliable operation of the chains under harsh working conditions.

Product Series
Mining & Cement Conveyor Chains
Specially designed for the mining and cement industries, this chain features thickened link plates and reinforced pins, capable of withstanding impact from large ore lumps and abrasion caused by high-temperature cement clinker.
Steel Mill chains
Directly resistant to high-temperature radiation and oxidation corrosion from hot steel billets, coils and rolling lines. It is widely applied in steel mill roller tables, cooling beds, drawing machines and steel rolling production lines. The material can withstand continuous high temperatures above 800°C.
Coal Washing Machine Chains
Used for screening and conveying in coal washing machines. The pins and sleeves are hardened to adapt to humid and highly abrasive coal slime environments.
Paver Chains
Used for scraper conveying and screed traction of asphalt pavers. With reinforced chain plates and optional wear-resistant attachments, the chain effectively resists adhesion of high-temperature asphalt.
Scraper Chains
Designed for submerged scraper conveyors, this chain enables the sealed pushing of bulk materials including fly ash, ore powder and grains. The scrapers can be fitted with welded wear-resistant layers, and the chain body undergoes carburizing and quenching treatment, delivering superior performance for conveying powdery and granular materials.

Working Principle of Heavy-Duty Chain

Heavy‑duty chains are driven by sprockets to pull heavy materials via sliding or rolling friction. Die-forged chain links deliver high tensile strength. Carburizing and quenching creates a hard, wear‑resistant surface while keeping the core tough to withstand impact loads. Scraper chains push and move materials with welded scrapers, and paver chains work with screeds to make asphalt flat.

Frequently Asked Questions
1
Can mining chains and cement industry chains be used interchangeably?
Interchangeable use is not recommended. Mining chains focus on impact resistance, while cement industry chains prioritize high-temperature resistance and abrasive wear resistance. We customize materials and heat treatment processes respectively based on actual working conditions.
2
How to solve the high-temperature oxidation problem of steel mill chains?
We adopt heat-resistant alloy steel and conduct strict pre-oxidation treatment to form a dense oxide film on the surface, which delivers high temperature resistance and reduces surface peeling.
3
Why do coal washery chains tend to rust easily?
The weakly acidic environment and sulfides in coal washing conditions will rapidly erode ordinary carbon steel. Our solutions include adopting stainless steel chains, or applying nickel plating / Dacromet coating on alloy steel chains.
4
How to prevent asphalt adhesion on paver chains?
Teflon spraying or polishing treatment can be applied to the chain plate surface. Meanwhile, stainless steel material is adopted to reduce asphalt adhesion and facilitate cleaning.
5
Why do fractures often occur near welds of scraper chains after welding, and how to prevent this issue?
The weld heat-affected zone produces untempered hard and brittle martensite as well as residual stress, which are the main causes of fatigue fracture. Our solutions include strict pre-welding preheating, post-welding heat preservation and slow cooling, plus overall stress-relief tempering. Additional hardfacing wear-resistant layers are applied on worn areas, to ensure a gradual and consistent performance transition of the entire structure.
6
How much higher is the ultimate tensile load of heavy-duty chains compared with standard chains?
It is usually 30-50% higher. Forged chains, for instance, can reach more than twice the strength of ordinary roller chains. The specific value depends on the chain plate thickness and raw material grade.
7
How to determine whether a chain needs replacement?
Measure the pitch elongation rate. Replacement is recommended once it exceeds 3%. Meanwhile, inspect the status of chain plate cracks, pin wear and scraper deformation.
8
Can you produce heavy-duty chains with non-standard pitches or fully customized per provided samples?
Yes. We have strong non-standard manufacturing capabilities and accept customized orders for non-standard pitches, special attachments and special materials. Customers may provide samples or detailed drawings for our evaluation, quotation and production.
9
Can you supply matching sprockets for heavy-duty chains?
Yes. We manufacture cast or forged sprockets compatible with heavy-duty chains. The tooth surfaces are high-frequency quenched, to ensure accurate meshing and high hardness.
10
What are the general lead times for sample production and bulk delivery of heavy-duty chains?
Sample lead time: 7–25 days; bulk order lead time: 25–45 days. Big mass orders or special materials may require extended time. For emergency shutdown maintenance projects, we adopt priority production scheduling to shorten delivery time and minimize downtime losses.
