What key factors should I consider when choosing conveyor chains for the raw material crushing section of my cement plant?
This is a typical high-wear, heavy-duty working condition. We recommend prioritizing wear resistance and impact strength as most critical parameters. Matech' s FV series heavy-duty chains and X series conveyor chains are specially designed for this scenario. Based on customers' different working condition requirements, we will recommend different alloy steel materials with customized heat treatment processes, which can extend the chain service life by more than 30% compared with standard chains.
1
For the high-temperature zone of up to 800°C at the kiln tail of cement plants, how do your heat-resistant steel casting parts ensure no deformation and no loss of strength under high temperatures?
The key is using special-purpose heat-resistant steel material (e.g., ZG40Cr25Ni20) and precise heat treatment control. This material forms a stable oxide film on the surface with its high chromium (Cr) and nickel (Ni) content, and maintains the austenitic structure at high temperatures. We optimize its high-temperature creep strength by controlling the casting's cooling rate and performing solution treatment, ensuring it maintains dimensional stability and withstands thermal loads during long-term thermal cycling.
2
On food filling lines, apart from stainless steel, how is your chain designed for easy quick teardown and deep cleaning?
After full communication and customer approval, we can provide tool-free quick-release chain links and an open structure for you. These quick-release links let you quickly remove a section of the chain for cleaning or replacement without disconnecting the whole production line. The open structure ensures there are no dead corners where food residue or liquid can get trapped. All our designs follow relevant international standards, and we’ll also give you corresponding cleaning guidelines.
3
In the high-temperature, high-humidity and corrosive environment of a palm oil mill, how do your conveyor chains prevent premature rust and corrosion?
We can provide a combined "material – process – coating" solution tailored to this operating condition.
The chain is made of martensitic stainless steel or high-grade alloy steel, rather than relying solely on surface coating.
On this basis, a thick-layer Dacromet coating is applied, which can ensure good performance on salt spray resistance of more than 800 hours—far superior to conventional galvanizing. This can effectively resist erosion from palm fatty acids, high temperature and moisture.
1
Can the price from a previous quotation be used for a new order?

A previous quotation can be used as a reference, but the price for a new order may need to be reviewed before confirmation.

Manufacturing costs can change over time due to fluctuations in raw material prices, production costs, exchange rates, order quantities, or changes to the product requirements. For repeat projects or confirmed bulk orders, we can review the specific situation and discuss whether the previous pricing can still be maintained.

2
Can you manufacture the tooling needed to produce my custom aluminum part?
Yes. If the selected manufacturing process requires dedicated tooling, such as molds, patterns, or other production tools, we can manufacture the required tooling as part of the project and also produce the finished aluminum parts.
3
Can you start a custom metal part project if I only have a sketch or basic dimensions?

Yes, we can start with a sketch, basic dimensions, photos, or other preliminary information for an initial technical discussion.

For functional or precision parts, important details such as critical dimensions, tolerances, material requirements, mating conditions, and surface requirements may need to be confirmed during the engineering review. Before production starts, the final manufacturing requirements should be confirmed to avoid misunderstandings or dimensional issues.

4
Can custom metal parts be packed separately even if they are used as one assembly?

Yes. Packaging arrangements can be adjusted according to the product structure, weight, surface protection requirements, transportation conditions, and customer preferences.

Parts that are used together in the final assembly do not always have to be packed together. Separating heavy or easily damaged components may make handling easier and provide better protection during transportation. We can discuss the suitable packaging arrangement according to the specific project before shipment.

5
Can custom roller chains be supplied in a specific length?

Yes. Custom roller and conveyor chains can be supplied in specific lengths according to your application, installation requirements, and packaging preferences.

However, for large-pitch or heavy-duty chains, an excessively long section may become difficult to lift, handle, install, or transport. We can therefore help determine a practical length per section based on the chain type and application requirements.

6
Before starting a custom casting project, will you conduct a formal review of mass production feasibility? If yes, what are the main review items?
Absolutely. We believe this is a necessary step to make sure the project goes well. The review will be done together by our casting, machining and quality engineers, and mainly check three key points:
1) Design manufacturability: whether there are blind spots that are difficult to cast or machine?
2) Cost and process: Is the process the most efficient and economical one?
3) Risk assessment: Identify potential quality risks points and make plans in advance.
We will also send the review result and improvement suggestions to you as an official document for your confirmation at that time.
7
For overseas projects, what measures do you adopt to guarantee consistent quality for batch production?
We rely on the dual guarantees of "process standardization" and "batch traceability". First, the process parameters confirmed with samples are documented and formalized as standard operating procedures. Second, key production parameters and critical control characteristics (including dimensions) at all key stations are recorded in real time. Process parameters are adjusted promptly against standard procedures to ensure consistent quality and dimensional stability for each batch.
8
If the trial-produced samples require modification, how will the relevant mold costs and modification cycle be handled?
If the modification is required because we did not meet the mutually confirmed technical specifications, we shall bear all related costs.
If the change is initiated by the customer as a voluntary design revision, we will assess a reasonble and nominal processing fee based on the modification scope, and clearly inform you of the impact on lead time (normally 3–7 working days). All costs and lead times will be confirmed in writing before any modification work starts, with no hidden charges whatsoever.
1
As your advertised "high-stability, high-precision CNC machined castings", what range of dimensional tolerance can you typically achieve?
For precision machined parts made of ductile iron, precision cast steel, and cast aluminum, our conventional machining tolerances can be stably controlled within ISO IT6–IT9.
For critical mounting and mating surfaces, using high-precision CNC equipment, we can achieve accuracies of ±0.005 mm or even higher.
As we all know, the achievable precision depends on part dimensions and structural complexity. Therefor, we will make a detailed tolerance analysis and report during the evaluation stage of projects.
2
How can I quickly judge from my engineering drawing whether I need to choose a welded steel chain instead of a standard roller chain?
The core judging principle is the ultimate strength and safety requirements.
Welded chains have a more robust structure and are suitable for scenarios like hoisting, towing and marine anchor chains, which demand extremely high breaking loads and have to withstand multi-directional impact forces.
If your application involves personal safety, the suspension of critical equipment (e.g., lifting heavy-duty molds), or extremely corrosive environments (e.g., offshore platforms), a welded chain is usually a more reliable choice.
Please send us your drawings, so we can further review and provide free recommendations for you.
3
What exactly does the "customized heat treatment" stated for your FV series conveyor chains refer to? How much longer service life can it provide compared with standard heat treatment of chains?
It means we adopt independent quenching and tempering process parameters for different load-bearing components such as chain plates, bushings and pin shafts, so that each can achieve the optimal balance of strength and toughness, instead of a one-size-fits-all approach.
For example, chain plates focus more on surface wear resistance, while pin shafts prioritize shear resistance. Practice has shown that under the same working conditions in mining, this method can increase the wear life of the entire chain by 25%-35%, and significantly reduce downtime caused by the failure of a single component.
1
What heat treatment processes does Matech offer? and how to choose the right one?
We offer two main types of heat treatment:
one is full heat treatment (e.g., quenching and tempering - quenching plus high-temperature tempering, for structural components requiring good all-round performance),
another is surface hardening (e.g., carburizing, nitriding, for highly wear-resistant gear flanks).
The choice depends on your material of your parts. (e.g., steel 4140 is suitable for quenching and tempering) and component performance requirements (core toughness or surface hardness).
Our engineering team can provide specific recommendations for you according to your parts design.
2
In the precision machining of aluminum parts, how to control the deformation of large thin-walled structural parts?
We ensure this with a set of combined processes: optimized fixturing and clamping (using special fixtures to reduce stress), optimized cutting tools and parameters (high-speed milling to lower cutting force), and stress relief procedures (conducting aging treatment or optimizing machining processes after rough machining).
For example, the flatness of battery trays we machined for new energy vehicle customers can be stably controlled within 0.3mm.
3
I need a high-temperature resistant cast steel part. Can Matech provide a full-process service from material selection to finished product delivery?
Absolutely. This is our core strength. The process includes:
1) Material selection: Recommending heat-resistant steel grades based on your working conditions (e.g., temperature, wear);
2) Casting and heat treatment: Using lost wax casting or investment casting, with normalizing, quenching and other treatments to optimize performance;
3) Precision machining: Conducted by the same project team, with a detailed process control plan designed to ensure consistent manufacturing benchmarks and final precision of products.
We also provide a complete set of quality documents.Including the dimensional inspection report & material certificate.
1
How does Matech's custom conveyor chain service specifically get involved and create value at the design stage?
At the early design stage, our engineers conduct design manufacturability analys for the chains design. For example, we once supported a mining client by optimizing the chain plate shape, pin shaft fitting method and material selection. We reduced the overall weight by 15% while meeting strength requirements, and also cut down on operational energy consumption. We don’t just supply products, we create tailor-made engineering solutions for our customers.
2
For conveyor chains used in the food and beverage industry, are there any special design and process requirements besides the material itself?
Yes, besides the material, hygienic design and surface treatment are same important.
Our food-grade chains feature a dead-corner-free design, good electropolishing, and dedicated lubricant options. This ensures compliance with national regulations and international standards, meeting your personalized cleaning and safety requirements.
