Core Applications

Customization Capabilities Covering Key Scenarios In Wood Processing

Castings & Machining Components

MATECH provides customized metal components with impact resistance and wear resistance for wood processing equipment.

1
Wear-resistant Structural Components
Crusher knife discs, screen supports, and conveyor chute liners are made of high manganese steel or alloy steel with surface hardening treatment, enabling them to withstand impact from wood materials and abrasive wear.
2
Pump Housings and Impellers
Used for wood chip and pulp conveying pumps. Stainless steel, alloy steel castings, or cast iron can be selected. Our impellers provide good strength, while the pump housings feature smooth flow passages, resistance to cavitation, and resistance to abrasive erosion.
3
Bearing Housings and Connection Components
Including conveyor roller bearing housings and chain tensioning device components. Made of ductile iron or cast steel with precision machining, and mounting holes can be customized according to requirements.
4
Sawing Machine Transmission Components
Including saw shaft housings and pulleys. Manufactured from alloy steel with quenching and tempering treatment, with dynamic balancing correction to ensure stable operation.

Conveyor Chains

Wood conveying lines require chains to withstand impacts from irregular wood blocks, penetration of wood chips, and heavy-duty pulling loads. MATECH provides large pitch conveyor chains and customized chain solutions specially designed for the wood processing industry, meeting the application requirements of log conveying, panel conveying, wood chip conveying, and waste material handling.

1
Reinforced Wood Conveyor Chains
Used for log conveyors, panel conveying lines, and stacking equipment. Featuring reinforced chain plate structures, strengthened pin designs, and carburizing and quenching treatment, these chains provide improved tensile strength, wear resistance, and impact resistance, making them suitable for high-load continuous conveying environments.
2
Toothed Wood Conveyor Chains
Used for log and panel gripping, positioning, and conveying. The chain plates are designed with gripping tooth structures, to effectively improve material conveying stability. The tooth sections are specially hardened, to enhance wear resistance and reduce wear during long-term operation.
3
Hollow Pin Conveyor Chains
Used for panel sorting, stacking, and automated conveying systems. The hollow pin structure facilitates the installation of cross rods, attachments, or guide plates, allowing flexible configurations according to equipment requirements.
4
Extended Pin Conveyor Chains
Used for conveying wood chips, shavings, and lightweight wood waste materials. Extended pins allow the installation of attachments such as pushers and scraper plates to achieve continuous material conveying, making them suitable for wood recycling and waste handling systems.

Industry Pain Points

Core Challenges Facing Wood Processing Customers
Wood processing equipment operates in harsh environments for extended periods. Common issues include:
Irregular Impact Causing Component Fatigue Damage and Chain Breakage
Logs or panels often vary in size, causing significant impact loads during feeding. Ordinary conveyor chains may experience these issues: chain plate deformation, pin wear, and fatigue damage at connection points, affecting the stable operation of the conveying system.
Wood Chip Intrusion Accelerating Wear
Fine wood chips can enter the clearance between pins and bushings, causing abrasive wear. This leads to rapid pitch elongation and may result in sprocket tooth skipping.
Chain Plate Fatigue Under High Loads
Log conveying, panel stacking, and wood chip transportation equipment typically require chains to withstand continuous pulling forces. Long-term heavy-load operation may cause wear at chain plate holes, structural fatigue, and reduced chain strength, shortening equipment maintenance intervals.
Corrosion in Humid Environments
Some wood processing operations involve wet wood conveying, cleaning, steam treatment, or drying processes, where equipment may operate in humid environments for long periods. Ordinary carbon steel components are prone to corrosion, affecting the smooth operation of chains and the service life of components.

Our Solution

Targeted Design Ranging from Materials to Structures

Aspects Solution for Casting & Machined Parts Conveyor Chain Solution
Material Materials are selected in accordance with diverse application requirements, including high manganese steel ZGMn13 (impact-resistant), high-chromium cast iron Cr26 (wear-resistant), 304 stainless steel (moisture-proof) and other alloy steels. Proper material selection effectively enhances the components' resistance to impact, abrasion and corrosion. Key components such as chain plates, pins and rollers are fabricated from high-strength alloy steels including 40Cr and 20CrMnTi, with thickened chain plates. Corrosion-resistant materials or stainless steel chains are optional based on service environments, to meet heavy-load and continuous conveying requirements.
Structure The structural design is optimized to match the operating characteristics of wood processing equipment. For instance, wear liners adopt replaceable structures to cut overall replacement costs; optimized pump body runners mitigate material erosion; reinforcing ribs are added to bearing housings to boost load capacity and anti-deformation performance. Reinforced chain structure design is adopted, featuring thickened chain plates, strengthened pins and optimized connecting structures. Hollow pins or extended pins can be configured according to conveying requirements, to facilitate the installation of cross bars, push blocks, baffles and other accessories.
Heat treatment Different heat treatment processes including solution annealing, quenching & tempering, and surface hardening are adopted according to material properties, to refine material microstructure, and enhance impact resistance, wear resistance and fatigue life. Key components including chain plates and pins undergo carburizing, quenching and other strengthening heat treatments. This delivers high surface wear resistance while retaining core toughness, improving the chain's tensile strength and fatigue resistance.
Services We provide services including old part scanning & making drawings, sample duplication, hardfacing repair by surfacing welding and custom machining, to help customers cut down equipment maintenance costs. We offer professional services including chain selection consultation, equipment operation assessment, elongation rate monitoring, as well as optimization recommendations for lubrication and tensioning, helping customers improve the operational stability of conveying systems.
